Committed to Building Community

My name is John Kuhl. I’m running for Minnetonka Mayor to engage everyone that lives, works, attends school, and worships in Minnetonka, ensuring that all voices are heard in our city.

Originally from Iowa, I moved to the Twin Cities right after college to start my career. Soon after, I met my amazing wife and we began our life together—first in North Minneapolis, not far from where she was born. Later, we found our forever home in Minnetonka—a place to grow in community and raise our children.

My family’s life is now fully rooted in Minnetonka. Our two children attend Hopkins Public Schools, where I serve on the School Board. We belong to Adath Jeshurun Congregation and are heavily involved in the Jewish community. Our children are active in high school and community sports. We love all that Minnetonka has to offer.

My family is diverse in many ways, which is very important to me. I was very lucky to marry "way up" to an amazing woman that is African American and Jewish. Our daughter Jordan is a 16-year-old who is the strongest person that I have ever met. She’s a proud athlete and student council representative. Our son Zeke is an energetic nine-year-old who loves reading and dreams of playing Major League Baseball.

So much is going on in our world and our city. This pivotal moment calls for building upon the successes of our past and growing in engagement, diversity, equity, & inclusion, community safety, housing, and the environment. Growth we can make together. The future can be different from the past. That’s why I’m asking for your vote on November 2nd.
